  1. Cool: I'm the first! An IV of blood for transfusion? I will be embarrassed if it isn't!

  6. I wish I'd taken a shot of my friend's abdominal drain... it still makes me queasy to think about... :-(

  7. Wow, that blood is so bright! As long as it is contained in some way (inside ya, or in the bag), blood isn't too gross. It is really gross when it is not contained.....

  8. Fear not, it’s only a raspberry cordial dispenser for a couch potato –just out of shot is the bedpan and a remote for the T.V.

  9. Hmmm.
    Interesting picture, Claire.
I'm not sure if it qualifies as "gross" to me, but hopefully it saved someone's life!

  10. I think it is a bit bright red for packed red cells and no one gives whole blood anymore. I'm thinking this might be a bag of IV fluids with a chemotherapy agent in it, perhaps Doxorubicin (Adriamycin), as it is a red liquid. If it is, then it is gross but again, like blood, life-saving.

Of course, it might just be red coolaid in an IV bag for an "Over the Hill" 50th birthday party.

  11. Is that real blood? It looks like though the color is too bright for a blood.
    Mine is up too.

  12. great picture. I donate when I can and I've had a few accidents when giving it, it's always nicer inside the bag.

  13. I have donated over 40 pints in my day, no more too much medication now

  14. It doesn't really look like blood to me. It's awfully red.

  15. WEll it certainly is something medical..now for me...I would say it is a High Enema...now that would be gross....and it is to pink for blood...well actually water and food colouring....but great choice!

  16. Claire, please never tell me how you make gravy. ;-)

  17. Now that's a gross pic. To me, it doesn't look like blood. It looks like it has a lot of bubbles and it looks like strawberry soda. Looks a little too clear for blood, but I'm no expert. Great idea, whatever it is, lol.

    Have a great weekend,
    Biker Betty :)

  18. I the comments. Eventually you must tell us what is in that bag. I'm guessing blood and the photo's color is a bit off.
Not too gross to me but for some people it sure would be.

  21. Ruth: Is there any other way to take red wine? ;-)

Nice one Claire, I especially don't like the sight of my own blood....

  22. Gross yes... but if it's medical, a lot of medial stuff is gross - more gross than my dog crap! However, it's worthy!

  23. Yes, to most, the site of blood is gross..

    :)

  24. Oh bloody heck - what is that exactly? Blood? Jello? Raspberry jam? Do tell!

  27. OK i will tell now.
Its a catheter bag full of vodka dyed red! This was used at my sisters halloween party.
I wish it had been of me donating blood, i will have to do it now!
    Thanks for the excellent guesses!

  28. yikes... I'm not sure what it is but I'd say it is nothing I'd like to be part of... Makes me quiver so it's gross!

  29. Vodka dyed red? How clever and so much better than a bag of blood! I can think of several people who wouldn't mind having this hooked up directly to a vein (not me, though, I don't handle alcohol well!)

  30. never would have guessed that was what it was!
