Bommy night

Tonight its Bommy Night otherwise known as Bonfire Night otherwise known as Guy Fawkes Night
Basically some naughty catholic conspirators tried to blow up parliament on the 5th of November 1605, including a bloke called Guy Fawkes. They failed, were tortured, then hung drawn and quartered.
So nowadays bonfires are built and "Guys" are burnt, there is also lots and lots of fireworks.
What will I do? Stay in and do homework, as tonight instead of college its 'self directed study'.

I stayed up last night until the wee hours of the morning to watch the election results and hear the speech, it was the right result in my opinion.

  9. Hmmmm....is that what they mean when they say "Bonnie Scotland"??!! LOL

I'm glad the US elections kept your interest, and it was a good speech, wasn't it? It was amazing to see not only the American reactions, but the global ones also. I saw coffee in the doodle. Did you get a chance to visit a Dunkin Donuts while you were stateside? Trying to remember if they have any D&D's in the UK, but then again I wasn't picky when it came to coffee or tea during my trip last year. I would of tried anything...LOL

  10. I didn't see any fireworks last night either Claire, just worked my tits off and cooked dinner for R who is working his ass off... I suppose you could say it was all tits and ass. What is it with all this working? If I get time I might go watch the display in town this weekend, I hope you get time to have a bit of fun too.

  12. Bommy night, huh?
Never heard it referred to as that.
Hope you at least got some sparklers, as a previous commenter said - can't have a festive holiday without some sparklers!

  14. So is this a good thing or a bad thing - this Guy Fawkes? I vaguely remember hearing of this but I didn't know it was celebrated with fireworks and such. We here seem to celebrate pretty much everything with fireworks these days unlike when it used to be you'd get to see them once a year on the Fourth of July.
