A triffid

Okay I know its not really a Triffid but who would of thought the lowly potato would produce such a unique looking flower.

  1. A Triffid, LOL.
It is a quite beautiful flower.
Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and other members of the nightshade family do have lovely tiny flowers, but this is the most *sweet* potato flower I've ever seen!

  2. Back in the day (which was a Saturday as I recall) there was a sci-fi B-movie called "Day of the Triffids" about man-eating plants from outer space. Or maybe the plants weren't from outer space, maybe they were irradiated by a meteorite or something. Anyway, I don't want to spoil the ending for you in case you want to watch it. But they looked far more menacing than these cute little guys here.

  3. I thought this was going to be Sci-Fi too. Sheesh, what a disappointment! ;)

  4. Mo is correct about the nightshade family. It is know as the deadly nightshade family for good reason, though. Don't decorate your salad with these flowers!

My Wordless Wednesday Post is up and I am again looking for an answer to a puzzle. Check it out and see if you can help figure out what it is, cause I don't know even after close examination. Comment and leave a Mr Linky to your site.

  8. I'd destroy these plants quickly, if I were you, before they try to feast upon your flesh, m'dear!

  14. Gorgeous. It never occurs to me that practical and edible plants like the potato could be pretty in a garden. I learned something today. :)

  15. Nightshade family. Whoa. Didn't they live next door to the Adams family? Deadly Nightshade. AKA belladonna. You need to say away from that bitch. You don't even need to eat her. Just boil her in some water in the kitchen and take a couple of whiffs. You will never stop laughing. Not even when they come to carry you away. More or less frozen in time, as they say.

These are little tidbits learned in the 1960s, and many hippies donated their brains in that kind of research. Try not to forget. Stick to weed. Or, better yet, your potatoes.

    But I know you won't....

  16. I'm surprised anyone remembers what triffids are. It's been awhile since they last got loose. It's really more of an English phenomenon, though.
