Crossing the pond again

View Crossing the pond in a larger map

You will be delighted to know that I am once more crossing the mighty puddle and hitting the shores of America this October. I shall be staying for a jolly amount of time, six weeks in fact and I have been planning this trip for an age. I have been very fortunate to have some cool things planned and some cool people to meet up with. So I am providing a lovely itinerary to make it easier for people to stalk me and if I have any blog chums that want to meet up and you see a spot in the trip that is reachable/doable, please let me know!

My Travel Itinerary for October -November 2012 (with helpful map shown up above):

October 17th - Get up at ye crack of dawn, time travel and arrive in Boston at a semi decent time. Once I have convinced the border patrol to let me pass through, The Distracted Wanderer aka Linda should be waiting for me, with banners, red carpet etc etc (okay just coffee will do!). Then we are whizzing up to Bangor in Maine to rest my weary head and be nearby to catch the apparent epic sunrises on Cadillac Mountain Or the alternative is to get up a wee bit later and visit Stephen King's house and venture Acadia way on the way back from Canada.

October 18 -19th - Getting up early to combat Jet lag and take in the views at Acadia National Park, before heading up to Lubec in Maine. Where we are staying for two nights at the lovely Peacock House , loads to see and do here!

October 20 -21st - EH? Oh that is right, off to Canada and the wonderful area of Hopewell Rocks . The abode of choice for this portion of the trip is the Innisfree Bed and Breakfast

October 22nd - 23rd- Setting off homeward bound (well Linda's home) in Norwich, Connecticut, with a stop for the night somewhere along the way.

October  24th - 25th - Hanging around Norwich, Connecticut

October 26th - 28th - Salem Massachusetts here we come! On the 27th of October I am going to be a judge at a Halloween Ball, held at the Hawthorne Hotel! Yes I get to be mean to people, for fun! Erm I mean witness epic Halloween stuff, in a genuinely spooky place.

October 29th - November 1st - Hanging around Norwich, Connecticut, obviously looking forward to scaring children on Halloween and all that bollocks, BOO!!

November 2nd - November 4th - Heading to Hazleton, Pennsylvania, staying at the Ramada. Meeting up with some friends and doing some tourist like things.

November 5th -9th  - No bonfire night for me, I will be hanging in Norwich CT. Seems like there is a lot of free time here, but I have no doubt it will be filled up soon enough!

November 10th - Craft Fair time! Taking a few samples of The Doodologist type things and trying to flog them in the aid of charity.  This will be in Rhode Island at the Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge from 10am to 3pm. I wonder what stuff I should take? Should one ham up the British thing?

November 11- Off for tea at Mrs Bridges Pantry. You can read about The Distracted Wanderer's recent jaunt there - Click Here

November 12 -14th - Hanging around Norwich, CT

November 15th - 19th - Back up to spooky Salem and the lovely Hawthorne Hotel for five awesome nights , planning on lots of exploring around this area, with maybe a few alcoholic beverages thrown in (a theme for the whole trip in fact). Perks of being a blogger and knowing epic bloggers like Linda.

November 20th - 25th - Off to the Sunset Hill House  A Grand Inn, New Hampshire for five nights of... free! Who says social media doesn't get you lovely things?  Again lots of things pencilled in, but nothing concrete. Make sure you like their page on facebook, as Linda and myself will be live blogging etc from that page. Sunset Hill House on Facebook

November 25th - 26th - Staying for one rather grand night in this hovel

November 26th -28th - Norwich, CT for my last few days.

November 29th - Off to Boston and then home.

Phew! I am exhausted just typing that out and I haven't even been yet, so imagine what my blog posts will be when I get home? Although I am a lazy sod when it comes to blogging these days! There are lots of gaps in the itinerary and have only gave

Luckily I am travelling with blogging extraordinaire Linda, so please check 'The Distracted Wanderer' on facebook, twitter and actual blog, as she will be updating things as we go! (no pressure Linda). I will try to be good and update as much as possible, with annoyingly amazing photographs and all that jazz. I know some friends and family will be following that way, because I never phone when I am travelling, so they will need reassurance that I haven't been murdered by crazy blogging folk.

So who is nearby to any of those places and wants to meet up?

I will be taking my sketch pad and lots of notes, as there is no rest for the wicked or The Doodologist , I will be doodling like mad before I go and will have to hit the ground running as soon as I am home, but it is all worth it. One thing I am contemplating on getting, to make things easier, is a smart tablet of some sort. Leaning towards a Google Nexus at the moment, so if anyone has some input on that score, let me know! I would mainly be using to update social media, reading/replying to emails and using it as a photo portfolio to show potential doodle clients.

  3. you are kinda just hanging around Plymouth Rock general area - you afraid of the Indians (oh I mean Native Americans you probably have more Indians in the UK than we have here.)
Really the only to be afraid of is the politicians and the big election is coming up so you'll be asked to vote. Since too many of us fail to vote, go right head.

  12. Claire, you'll love Acadia. My father-in-law used to live a stone's throw away, in nearby Southwest Harbor. Be sure to climb Beehive Mountain, some spectacular views from up there. Looks like our paths won't cross this trip, but I'll be there with you in spirit. Have a grand time!
